Squirrels + Pumpkins = Disaster

So I think some of you may remember my post about a year ago about the problems we had with squirrels in our walls and attic. Well I am here to tell you my relationship with those little buggers hasn't gotten any better! Now they are after our PUMPKINS!!!
Last year they attacked our CARVED pumpkins which wasn't a big deal since Halloween was basically over. Well this year they started there attack A LOT earlier! We just got our pumpkins last weekend and they are already ruined and we still have 2 weeks until Halloween. Don't believe me just look at the picture below!
Our neighbor caught them in the act and I will have to post a picture if I can get them to send me one of the criminals in the act.
Needless to say these pumpkins have been retired and new ones await, INSIDE the house until we are ready to carve them!
On to happier things Makayla and her cute Halloween costume.
Now this makes me happy!
Isn't she the cutest Kitty ever! I am proud to say that I, with a little of Caleb's help, made most of that costume!
We recently went to Caleb's school for a trick-or-treating event, which was a blast. We did it last year and it was so fun. Why is it so early you may ask, well they try to get it done before finals and break for the trimester starts. Anyway they also have a costume contest after the trick-or-treating. Last year Makayla won for the "cutest" costume we were so proud! This year when they announced the cutest costume and it wasn't Makayla we thought oh well at least we go it last year. They continued with the winner for "most original", we weren't going to win that, and then they got to the "scariest" and guess who won......Yup Makayla! They said the scariest costume goes to the scary little Kitty! We thought it was so funny! There really wasn't any scary ones in her age so we think they were torn between her and the cute little cowboy that won for cutest so they just gave her scariest! She won $20 to target and she can't wait to get to spend it!
Here she is on stage. Caleb placed her right in front of the judges and proceeded to coach her. He had her meowing and moving her hands. It was so cute and I tease him now that he would be the best pageant coach ever! What a great dad he is!

Here she is with her prize! Isn't she adorable!

Pumpkin Patch 2010

Well it is that time of year again, time for pumpkin picking! We went to a pumpkin patch for the first time last year and had a blast, so we decided that we would go to one again this year. This time we went to one called Pride of the Wapsi. It was a lot of fun! They had lots of fun things to do besides just picking pumpkins and I think Makayla was in heaven!
One of the things they had was a pony ride.
Look how happy she is riding her pony
They also had this little barrel ride that she could not stop talking about. She would say how it would go slow and then fast. It really didn't go that fast, but watching Makayla you would think it was going so fast because she was holding on so tight and would only let one hand go to wave to us!
Face painting was a must! Makayla loves it! They some different options that the kids could choose from and of course she picked a spider! She is on a spider kick all of a sudden. She doesn't like them when they are alive but loves to look at dead ones and pictures of them.

They also had tons of jump houses for the kids to go in. This one was a caterpillar. She liked it a lot. They had a couple other ones that she wouldn't go in because too many big kids were in them, but she did enjoy them!

Here is Makayla and daddy in one of the many cutouts they had for you to take pictures in. She thought it was so fun to drive the bus. She has a thing for pretending to drive. Most of the time we can't get out of the car without letting her pretend to drive us to UTAH!

After all the fun we had on the farm we still had to go and get pumpkins, the whole reason we went to the patch in the first place. We rode on a tractor out to the patch. It was a very bumpy ride, at least to me, but hey I am 9 months pregnant!

Daddy and Makayla enjoying the ride

Makayla in the middle of the pumpkins. Notice the outfit for pumpkin picking. Shorts and a short sleeved shirt! It was like 90 degrees outside that day. Crazy weather for October, but I will take it! I am not ready for winter!

Makayla found just the right pumpkin! She also insisted that we get a baby one for the baby so we did. Now we will just see if she is here in time for Halloween!

After the pumpkin patch we went to dinner and I had to throw this picture of Makayla and her lemon in. It was just too cute. This girl loves to suck on lemons and she thought it was so cool when I showed her this trick!

Well that is it for this post! I am loving Fall and the weather we are having. Stay tuned for Halloween costume pictures. I am just finishing up making her costume!

Fall Fun at the Farmers Market

As I was looking at my blog I realized it had been awhile since I posted so I thought ok time to post, but when I went to get some pictures to post about I realized that I haven't been very good at taking any recently! So much has been going on but I haven't been good at documenting it, so I decided that this last weekend was as good as any to start taking pictures again and being better at documenting the happenings of our life!
So this last weekend we went with a good friend and her kids to the farmers market downtown, we love going there anyway, and as an added benefit they were having a fall festival down there. Makayla had a blast and it was a fun way to bring in the fall!
Putting the wart on the witch
I think she did a pretty good job!
Not sure about the looks on their faces, but here is Makayla with one of her best friends here, Cadence
She even got her face painted! This girl loves to have her face painted and would have it done everyday if I would do it for her.

They also had a firetruck that the kids could look at and even get in. Here she is with daddy in the back seat she loved it!
The coolest thing about the firetruck was that they were letting people ride int he bucket part. Makayla wasn't sure about going in it at first, but then she decided it would be fun and now she talks about it all the time. How she went so high up and looked down at me and how she could see the river!

So high!

They also had a place for the kids to look through some straw and find candy. If you know my child she was in heaven! It took a few days for her to stop asking for the candy every five seconds, i am so dreading Halloween and trick-or-treating this year!
We ended with a family picture. It is crazy to think that this will be one of the last ones where it will be just the three of us. I can't believe in less than a month we will have a new little one with us. We are very excited, but I have to admit I am also VERY scared and nervous for what lies ahead!
