St. George --Makayla's First Trip--

For the 24th of July we decided to go to St. George for a family vacation. We decided to go to St. George because Les Miserables (my absolute favorite musical) was playing at Tuacahn, and I try to see it whenever I can. Caleb and I thought that it would be fun to get other people to go with us, so we asked my parents and my brother and sister-in-law to go with us. We left on the 24th in the morning for the drive down. I was a little bit nervous for the drive, because I didn't know how Makayla would do in the car. This was her first extended car trip and she either sleeps in the car or screams, I was hoping for the first. On the way down we made a stop at Bryce Canyon. It was a beautiful look out. We had invested in the snugli right before the trip and this was Makayla's first time in it. Doesn't she look so darn cute!

We tried to keep her covered so the sun wouldn't get to her. While we were there some random lady wanted a picture of her because she said, "She is just so cute I can't resist". Here is a family picture with the canyon in the background.

After the drive down, in which Makayla did relatively well we only had one breakdown, it was time to eat and go to the play! I was so excited! The play was great! The singing in it was incredible, I would defiantly recommend seeing it. The only sad part of the whole night was the fact that Makayla got fussy right before it started, so Caleb had to sit at the top and watch the show from there. Caleb said she did ok with him up there and that he did get to enjoy the show, but what happened after was so sad. Well you see we are trying to get Makayla to take a little formula since I am going back to teaching in a few weeks, so we decided to give her some while at the play. She really didn't like it and didn't want to take it, but eventually she did take 2 oz. After the show and the small fireworks display she was asleep, but on the way to the car she woke up and threw up! It was so sad. Then at the car, while I was changing her, she threw up again! And if you can believe it she threw up again on the way home in the car. I felt horrible inside. I felt like I was a horrible mother. After we got home and she rested for a little bit, I fed her again and she was fine and slept great. So I am not sure if it was the formula or the heat that made her stomach upset, we are hoping it was the heat and that she will soon take the formula.

The rest of the trip was a lot of fun. The girls spent some time shopping at the outlets, I was good and only bought Makayla 2 things! We also got pedicures, I think it may become a monthly thing for us, boy did they feel good. The boys spent their time golfing. They got to golf two times while we were there. One of the times was in the dead heat of the day. The girls thought they were crazy, but whatever! The last day everyone, but me, went and saw the new Batman movie. I stayed with Makayla since Caleb had taken her all through the play. They came back and bragged about how it was the "Greatest movie ever!" How rude! Later that night we went mini golfing, now that was the girls type of golfing! Makayal was so cute, we had her in her snugli again and she fell asleep, I didn't have the camera so I couldn't take a picture, but trust me it was so funny. Well that was the extent of our trip. It was short, but it was a lot of fun! We can't wait to go camping in a couple of weeks

Here is Makayla on her first vacation in her first hotel!

I thought these were cute pictures of Makayla so I just had to add them. I love the one with Caleb she just looks so darn cute! That was at dinner at Famous Daves! YUM! YUM!

4th of July

This was Makayla's first 4th of July, not to mention her first real holiday! We had lots of fun on this day. First we dressed Makayla up in her 4th of July outfit. I was so excited to have her wear it because I thought it was just so darn cute! Then we took her to a breakfast at my parents ward where we had some yummy food!
After the breakfast Caleb, my dad, and I went and hit a bucket of balls at the golf course. Caleb is practicing for our trip to St. George in a couple of weeks. I hit a few balls and lets just say my dad and Caleb had a few good laughs. I think I will just stick to soccer. After golfing we went to my Aunt Bonnie's to swim and have a BBQ with my family. It was a lot of fun.
Here Caleb is with Makayla for her first swimming experience, OK she didn't really swim she just put her feet in, but she enjoyed that very much!
By the end of the night she was very tired and fell asleep in her Aunt Jerilyn's arms. We knew she was asleep by the position of the arm, above her head! It was a very busy and fun 4th of July!

Makayla's Blessing Day June 29th

Last Sunday was such a special day for our family, because Caleb was able to bless Makayla. It was such a great experience for all of us. Right as Caleb was going up to bless her she decided that she was going to cry, I got really nervous that she was going to cry the entire time, but the most amazing thing happened right when Caleb started to speak she went dead silent and just stared at Caleb the entire time. I was so glad that she quieted down so that we could all hear the blessing. Caleb gave such a great blessing, he is such a great father and husband. Makayla looked so beautiful in her blessing dress that Great Grandma Marchant bought for her. Thanks! Not to mention the beautiful bow and cute shoes that Grandma Hunter bought for her!

Isn't she so beautiful!

Here she is with her proud mommy! and her proud daddy!!
After the blessing we went back to Grandpa and Grandma Hunter's house to have a BBQ and enjoy the company of family and friends that came. Thanks so much to all that came to show their support, it really meant a lot to our little family!
