Just "Chillin"

This is Makayla's new favorite thing to do. Whenever the fridge opens she bolts for her "spot". She loves that spot and would stay there all day if I let her. Getting her to move so we can close the door is a a real trick!
I just wanted to add this other adorable picture of Makayla. She loves to put things in her bucket and carry it around. The other day I caught her doing this and it made me laugh so hard. She is such a fun girl.

Joe's Valley 2009

For our first week of summer we went camping with my parents, aunt & uncle, & cousins. It was Caleb's last request. He loves to camp and fish and since my family does too and goes a few times a year they planned one that we would be able to go on. We had a lot of fun! It was defiantly cold and rainy but fun. It rained every day on us, but we were still able to find time to go fishing and sit by the fire.

Speaking of the rain, we had a near death experience coming home from fishing because of it. We had gone up to a lake way up on the top of the mountain and were coming home when we hit a down poor. It made the road that was just dirt really muddy. We were sliding all over in the truck. We had to stop for a little bit so that the road could dry out. You are probably thinking not that big of a deal, but the the road was on the mountain and had a VERY steep cliff on the one side. I was scared to death!
Here are pictures from the trip enjoy!
It took Makayla the whole trip to get comfortable with my uncle's dog. She loves dogs, but she was scared to death of him coming too close to her.

My cousin Brooke was there and so Makayla had a friend to play with, her boy Kaden. This was one of the only pictures we could get of the two of them together. The rest of the time the picture on bottom was all we could get. Makayla chasing after Kaden and him wanting nothing to do with her!

Caleb and Makayla getting ready for one of their many hikes they went on. If we wanted Makayla to fall asleep all we had to do was put her in this and walk around for a few minutes.

Just like daddy Makayla liked fishing. She would say "fishy" over and over! She even caught her first fish. Grandpa let her reel his in.
We couldn't let her get dirty up there, so yes she had a bath. Isn't she so cute!
Here is her sleeping attire. This year we slept in a tent. I was so scared she would be cold so we bought a heater. It worked great, but I still bundled her up. Don't you just love the hat and mittens. We were looking everywhere for something that would work, but it is the wrong season so when we saw these at wal-mart we just had to buy them. I just have one questions who or what is "Brobee"??? As you can tell she wasn't to thrilled to wear it all. She didn't mind the mittens, but she hated the hat!

Here is a group picture minus Matt and Doug they were taking the pictures.
What great fun we always have!

Bittersweet!

As most of you know school is officially over and usually with that comes great happiness! Well this year I would say it is bittersweet. Don't get me wrong I am so ready for the summer and the chance to be a stay at home mommy, who wouldn't with this cute thing,

but I think I truly am going to miss teaching! As I packed up my room Friday I found myself thinking about these past 3 years and how much I have truly enjoyed them. From the highs, seeing a student succeed for the first time in math. To the lows, feeling overwhelmed by the fact that I wasn't just a teacher, but a role model and someone who cared for some of these kids who didn't know what that was like. I must admit I had no idea what I was getting myself into becoming a teacher after all it isn't a 9-5 job and the pay isn't great, but with all of that said I just don't think that I could have picked a better profession. I will miss not only the students, but my fellow colleges and friends that I have made. This transition will be a hard one, but one that ready or not I am going to make. Here is to the end of one chapter of my life and the beginning of a new one.

Makayla's Rash and the Zoo

This past week has sure been an interesting one. It started off with two trips to the doctors for Makayla. The first one was just to get medicine for a small rash she had around her mouth. The doctor gave us a prescription for some ointment and we were off only to be calling them back the next day, because Makayla had broken out in a really bad rash while at the babysitters. We went back up there, and saw a doctor that wasn't our usual doctor, and she said it was just hives and that benadryl would make them go away. Nothing to explain it or anything. So the next day, when they were worse I called again and MY doctor told me that it was probably a viral infection and that we would have to wait it out. He said it would probably last 7-10 days and that it could get worse in the next 48 hours, but not to worry. Just those few simple explanations gave me so much more comfort! Here is a picture of what her leg looked like on Friday. It looks much better today, it is still there but a lot lighter.
I had decided to take Thursday off to take Makayla to the zoo, yes I was going to play hooky from school, this was before she broke out in the rash so it was perfect timing to have the day off. The doctor said she wasn't contagious so Caleb and I decided to keep with the plan of taking her during the week so it wouldn't be as busy. We are so glad we did. It was perfect weather not too hot and not too cold. She had to wear a jacket so that was good so that I didn't get looks from parents for having my leopard child out. She had a blast! At first she didn't know what to think, but as the animals moved around she would get so excited! Not only did she like the animals, but she had just as much fun watching the other kids. She loves other kids! Here are some pictures from the day.

There were some geese walking around with their baby's. Makayla loved looking at the and saying "baby"
Daddy, Makayla, and the big Gorilla!
We thought she would be terrified of it but she loved it
Mommy, Makayla, and the big and I mean BIG elephant!
Makayla riding the tiger!
This is my favorite picture! This was the face we would get each time she would see a new animal! Priceless!
I am so glad we took her to the zoo! I almost bought a pass for the zoo this summer, but then realized I won't be here all summer so it is a waste for me. Who knows maybe there is a zoo in Iowa and I can buy one out there! I can't wait to stay at home with her, even if it will be in IOWA!

Las Vegas!

So I am a little late in posting this, but oh well here we go. So for spring break we decided to take a little road trip with our friends Kipp and Krystal. We didn't want to be gone too long, leaving the little ones isn't easy, so we decided to go to Vegas for a weekend! We had a lot of fun! Here is a break down of our trip.

We left Friday morning and drove through the worst weather I have seen. It was a crazy snowstorm that didn't stop until we hit St. George. We kept ourselves entertained by listening to Kipp sing karaoke and playing a little family feud on the computer.

We got to Vegas and checked into our hotel, The Excalibur, and then it was off to our first of many shows! We decided to drive down the strip to the hotel where our show was and boy was that the wrong thing to do. It took us like an hour to drive 1.2 miles it was CRAZY! Before the show we ate dinner at this "sports bar" The boys were awe struck at the amount of T.V.'s in this place. They even had a section that was like stadium seating in a movie theater with recliners. Let me saw you defiantly pay for the atmosphere.

Here Caleb and Kipp are relaxing on the couch that served as our eating area. We paid $14 for a hamburger and a bag of nasty chips! Not worth it! Oh well though.

After eating we went to the show Blue Man Group! It was awesome! I honestly didn't know what to expect out of this show. Kipp had been the one talking this one up. He was so excited because we were sitting in the "poncho" section. We hoped that our seats were good for this show and boy were they good seats. We had front row and center seats, they couldn't have been any better!

Here we are before the show started with our "ponchos" on!

We had great seats for a great show. I can't even describe to you what it was like, all I can say is I defiantly recommend it! Oh and if you were wondering if the poncho's were needed, yes they were! We got sprayed with bananas!!! Krystal and I got it the worst and we couldn't stop laughing the whole time! At the end of the show we were covered in toilet paper, here are some pictures from that!

The next day we decided to walk the strip and visit some of the different hotels. We went to the M&M store and the Coke store. We also took a Gondola ride. I wore brand new sandals that day, I know what you girls are thinking out there stupid idea!!! I had a few blisters and was dying by the end of our adventures. We also got to eat at the cheesecake factory this day and we walked right in, it was a huge difference from the one here in Utah! Here are some pictures from this days events.

Caleb and I in front of the Excalibur

I just think this is a funny picture!

At the coke factory! Us enjoying our drinks!!

Us on the Gondola ride. The lady that took us around sang to us when we went under the bridge and she had a really nice voice.

After walking the strip we went to another show, Chris Angle's show. For those of you who don't know he is a magician. Let me just say DON'T go to this, it was not worth it! There was like 5 magic tricks the rest was crazy weird stuff! It was horrible! Good thing we didn't fork out a ton of money for the good seats!

The next day we rode a bunch of roller coasters and played in the arcade rooms. We drove to Buffalo Bills Hotel about 30 min. away so that we could ride one of the tallest roller coasters. It really was pretty scary.

Here is a picture of the roller coaster and of Krystal and I about to ride it and wet our pants. Krystal said she didn't open her eyes for very much of it because she was so scared!
We also rode the New York, New York roller coaster and I would have to say that Buffalo Bills was better!
After riding the roller coasters and what not we went to a show called the Tournament of Kings. It was in our hotel and it was a dinner and a show about knights back in King Aurthur's time. The food wasn't great, but it was sure a lot of fun. Before it all really began they were teaching us how to cheer and making us practice. Well if you know my husband he gets really into those things, and well I shy away and get a little embarrassed. We were sitting on the front row and the next thing I know the guy in the middle of the arena points to Krystal and I and says that we have to do it on our own because we weren't doing it well enough. The spotlight came on us and he made us stand up. He tried to make us do the cheer, but we were laughing too hard and he finally told us to just sit down. We were so embarrassed!

Here we are at the show, it is dark so you really can't see much of the set up behind us, sorry!
After the show Krystal and I had our picture taken by a guy who was very nice looking. He was so buff it was crazy! You can't see it in the picture, but his thighs are crazy buff! No our husbands weren't jealous, They know they really are better looking!
That night we walked the strip again so we could see it in the dark and the next morning we drove home! The ride home was a lot quieter. I think we were all worn out from everything! It was a lot of fun, but we were all ready to see our kids again! Thanks Kipp & Krystal for a great time! We will miss you guys when we move to Iowa!!
